Aroura Borealis light, Paint your masterpiece tonight, With your palate glowing blue, Red and white and greenish hue. Multicolored patterns high, Drift across the Northern Sky. Undulating to and fro, A shimmering, flickering, fiery glow. Ghostly fingers of eerie light, Reach to grasp at stars so bright.
Your beautiful illumination, Stimulates imagination. A battle rages up on high. A quest for dominance of the sky. Arrows spring from fiery bows, To slay the dark and evil foe. Brilliant shafts of Heavens light, Pierce the beast that is the night. The mighty beast in dark disguise, Is wounded but he never dies.
And so the battle rages on, Until the coming of the dawn. The sun will chase the beast away, To lick his wounds 'til end of day. But soon from his dank lair he creeps, To do his evil while the world sleeps. And thus for all eternity, You carry on the fight. While the sun's at rest, You shield us from the beast that is the night. by Gary Olsen Inspired by 1996 Caribou hunt |
