This video contains the highlights from our 1995 and our 1998 whitetail seasons.
We started our 1995 season in Michigan where I managed to put a small yearling buck in the freezer. Later in the season we made our first and only bowhunt in Kansas. We had a great time and I got the biggest whitetail of my bowhunting career. A nice 9 point that green scored 121 Pope & Young points. This is my last video where I used a compound. Mike used a recurve on this hunt. On all the rest of our hunts we used longbows. Mike got a nice 9 point too, but we didn't get that one on video. We did get some great video of a Pope & Young class buck that managed to evade Mike's arrow and got away unscathed.
In 1998 we hunted in Michigan early in the season, then went to Illinois. In Illinois we hunted for trophy sized whitetails. We passed up shots at smaller bucks and ultimately failed to get any monsters, but did manage to get 2 decent sized bucks. We had a lot of fun and had some interesting encounters with whitetails and other wildlife.
These hunts aren't as exciting and dramatic as our moose hunts, but they are entertaining and real. When you watch this video you'll be able to share the thrill of the hunt and the frustration of trying to outsmart those wily whitetails.
