This video contains all of the bowhunting action of our 2002 whitetail season. We hunted in Michigan and Illinois with longbows. We managed to get some good video of some dandy whitetails. Several were Pope & Young class bucks. Again we passed up shots at smaller bucks and ultimately failed to get any monsters. I had many close encounters with big bucks, but they just wouldn't come in bow range of me. Mike managed to luck out and get a dandy 8 point with his longbow. Between the two of us we videotaped over 40 bucks. One evening I had a hot doe come by with 5 bucks in pursuit. One buck, that I call Mr. Big, stayed close to the doe and kept driving away the smaller bucks. All 4 of the smaller bucks came within 10 yards of me. I passed up an easy shot at a dandy 8 point hoping that Mr. Big would follow. He didn't. I wasn't too disappointed though since I got all of the action on video. We had a lot of fun and had some interesting encounters with whitetails and other wildlife.
These hunts aren't as exciting and dramatic as our moose hunts, but they are entertaining and real. When you watch this video you'll be able to share the thrill of the hunt and the frustration of trying to outsmart those wily whitetails.
