This video is about an Alaskan wilderness longbowhunt for caribou on the Squirrel River above the Arctic Circle. My buddy Mike brought his 16 year old son Jody along. We did an outfitted drop camp hunt. Big mistake. Our outfitters picked us up in Super Cubs and flew us in to their base camp. Unfortunately, we couldn't get to our drop camp site because of turbulence, so we threw all of our gear in a raft and hauled it down the river. Half of our gear got left behind because the 2 Super Cubs couldn't carry all of it in one trip. We didn't get it for 2 days. The Fishing was great. The hunting was okay but not many bulls. We didn't fill our tags, but it was still a great adventure. The scenery was tremendous. We had some good weather and some bad, (cold & windy). We had tents that were too small, a broken stove, bad food, half of a shotgun, (half of the parts got left at the airport). There were bear tracks everywhere. (A whole shotgun would have been nice). We got some good video of caribou and a few moose. This video isn't as dramatic as some of our others, but it is entertaining and it is real Alaska wilderness hunting. When you watch this video you'll be able to share the thrill of the hunt as well as the frustration of having to deal with a myriad of problems.
